Russia calls Ukrainian drone attack on Kursk plant ‘act of nuclear terrorism’
- Drone fragments were found about 100m (328 feet) from the station’s spent fuel nuclear storage facility

Russia’s foreign ministry said on Friday that the latest Ukrainian drone attack on Russia’s Kursk nuclear power station overnight was “an act of nuclear terrorism”, the state-run news agency TASS reported.
The drone was shot down near a spent nuclear fuel storage, the agency said, citing an unnamed source.
President Vladimir Putin also accused Ukraine of trying to attack the plant, one of Russia’s top nuclear power stations.
“The enemy tried to strike the nuclear power plant at night. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been informed,” Putin said during a televised government meeting on Thursday.
Putin did not present any evidence for his claims or provide further details on the alleged attack.
The IAEA released a statement saying it had been told by Moscow drone fragments were found roughly 100 metres from the Kursk plant’s spent fuel nuclear storage facility.
