Watch: family’s tribute to mother of three killed in Las Vegas concert shooting
Friends of Neysa Tonks flooded a fundraising page with photos, of them together and captions like ‘you made me smile and always knew how to enjoy life’. She was 46.
Through tears and in heart-wrenching tributes, relatives and friends are remembering the dozens of people killed in the shooting massacre on the Las Vegas strip.
One of them was Neysa Tonks, a 46-year old mother of three who lived and worked in Las Vegas.
Tonks was a big fan of country music singer Jason Aldean, and she attended Sunday’s music festival with her boyfriend.
Her brother, Cody Davis, confirmed that Tonks was killed in the gunfire during Aldean’s set. Her boyfriend was injured and treated at a hospital.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. Because they were separated and he had her purse with her identification, the family had struggled to claim Tonks’ body.
She was raised in Utah and moved to Las Vegas about 10 years ago, Davis said.
“She was pretty much a single mother who raised three boys,” he said.
“She was a great mom and a great sister and a great friend.”
She was also a successful businesswoman, he said, working at the IT firm Technologent. In her free time, she loved taking her kids to the beach, Davis said, and water-skiing. When she went back to Utah, she would ski the mountains.
“She was just completely outgoing,” he said.
Tonks’ employer remembered her as a “great mother, colleague and friend”.
“Neysa has brought so much joy, fun and laughter to Technologent – she will be greatly missed by all!” said a statement posted by the California-based company.
The company has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to help her family.
