Donald Trump demands probe into whether Barack Obama ordered FBI to infiltrate his election campaign
Trump said that he will order an investigation into the conservative conspiracy theory that says Obama administration sent FBI spies on nefarious investigation

US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he will “demand” the Justice Department investigate whether the FBI infiltrated his presidential campaign for political purposes and whether any demands or requests for such action originated with the Obama administration.
Trump tweeted: “I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!”

Trump has been promoting the theory, which has circulated in conservative circles, although his lawyer has cast doubt on it.
The Justice Department declined to comment.
Rudy Giuliani, who represents Trump in the ongoing special counsel’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, said in a television interview last week that neither he nor Trump knows for certain if there was a spy on the campaign.
Giuliani said they had been told of “some kind of infiltration.”
In the wake of Trump’s demands, the Justice Department asked its inspector general to see if there was any impropriety or political motivation in how the FBI conducted its counterintelligence investigation of persons suspected of involvement with Russian agents who interfered in the presidential election.
