Stan Lee’s business manager Keya Morgan facing arrest for elder abuse of Marvel Comics legend
- New York-based memorabilia collector charged with false imprisonment, fraud and forgery
- He was previously accused of isolating Lee from friends and family, and exploiting their relationship to embezzle US$5 million in art, cash and other assets
Late comic book legend Stan Lee’s former manager has been charged with elder abuse against the co-creator of The Avengers and Spider-Man, a Los Angeles court official said on Monday.
Keya Morgan was charged on Friday with five counts of elder abuse, including false imprisonment, fraud and forgery stemming from an incident last summer when Lee was 95 years old, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Superior Court public information office told Los Angeles City News Service.
The spokeswoman added that a warrant for Morgan’s arrest had been issued.
Morgan, a New York-based memorabilia collector who became involved with Lee in 2017, was served with a restraining order last year after Lee’s family accused him of elder abuse.
Lee’s lawyer applied for the order following an incident in May 2018, in which police and a social worker were called to Lee’s home in Los Angeles to perform a welfare check. Morgan was reported to have dialled emergency services and tried to get the visiting police arrested, saying they were impostors and trespassing on Lee’s property. He was then arrested and charged with filing a false police report.
