US fines food company that imported items made by Chinese prisoners

• US customs officials seized a shipment of stevia in 2016 after receiving information that it was made by Chinese prison labour
• The agency collected US$575,000 from Pure Circle USA in the first such penalty issued since the passage of the 2015 Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act
