US President Joe Biden tests negative after second bout of Covid-19, remains in isolation
- President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, days after coming down with the illness for a second time in a ‘rebound’ case
- ‘The President continues to feel very well,’ his doctor said in a statement, but will remain in isolation at the White House pending a second negative test

US President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid-19 on Saturday, days after coming down with a second bout of the illness.
“The President continues to feel very well,” Biden’s doctor Kevin O’Connor said in a statement. “This morning, his SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing was negative.”
Biden, 79, will remain in isolation at the White House pending a second negative test, his doctor said.
The president’s “rebound” case, linked by his doctor to the antiviral drug Paxlovid, has stymied the embattled president’s plans to take advantage of a recent Democratic policy wins.
He cancelled an August 2 trip to Michigan to promote legislation subsidising US semiconductor manufacturing in competition with China, though he joined virtually.
After the latest antigen test on Biden came back negative on Saturday morning, his doctor said. “In an abundance of caution, the president will continue his strict isolation measures pending a second negative test as previously described.”
