2 children killed after driver ‘deliberately’ rams bus into Canada day care centre
- Suspect Pierre Ny St-Amand, 51, is facing 9 charges including first degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm
- 6 other kids were injured during the incident near Montreal, which saw children trapped under the vehicle

Two children were killed when a bus rammed into a day care centre near Montreal on Wednesday, with the driver arrested over what police believe was a deliberate act.
One child died on the scene and another in an ambulance, Canadian authorities said, after several children were trapped under the vehicle when it slammed into the building in the suburb of Laval at about 8.30am, around the time when children are usually dropped off by their parents at day care centres.
Six other children transported to hospital “are out of danger”, said Laval police spokeswoman Erika Landry.
“We think that this is deliberate, but we don’t know the motive,” local police chief Pierre Brochet said, adding that the 51-year-old man was being questioned and had no prior criminal record.

The suspect, Pierre Ny St-Amand, is facing nine charges including first degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm. He appeared in court via video late Wednesday from a hospital room and will remain detained. He is an employee of the Laval municipality’s public transit system.
