2 women dead, several wounded in Kentucky church shooting. Suspect killed, police say
‘Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had a connection to the individuals at the church,’ police said

Two women were killed in a shooting at a Kentucky church on Sunday in an incident that took place after a police officer was shot and wounded, authorities said. The suspect was also killed.
In a news conference, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said the officer pulled over a car near Blue Grass Airport in Fayette County when he was shot by the suspect.
The officer had stopped the car after receiving a “license plate reader alert”, Weathers said. The officer was in stable condition, he said.
The suspect then stole a car and fled to Richmond Road Baptist Church in southwest Lexington where they began shooting at people.
“Preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have had a connection to the individuals at the church,” Weathers said.
The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was later killed by Lexington police.
