Trump gives green light for Nvidia to sell H200 AI chips in China
The move has upset China hawks in Washington, who are concerned that selling more advanced AI chips to Beijing could help boost its military

“I have informed President Xi, of China, that the United States will allow NVIDIA to ship its H200 products to approved customers in China, and other Countries, under conditions that allow for continued strong National Security,” Trump said in a post on the Truth Social platform, noting that the Chinese president had “responded positively”.
Twenty-five per cent will be “paid” to the US, Trump continued, adding that the Commerce Department was finalising details and that the same approach will apply to AMD, Intel and other US companies.
Both are more advanced than the H200, and Huang has previously pushed for selling Blackwell chips to China – a step that Trump has indicated he would consider.
