Get moving

Bonnie Wu

The largely stationary nature of office jobs can aggravate poor circulation. Sitting in front of a computer for hours can restrict blood circulation in the arms and legs, causing numbness, swelling and fatigue. Walking around for five minutes every hour helps stretch the legs and get the blood flowing.

Regular exercise is also essential. If your extremities feel cold or stiff, the problem may stem from other areas of the body. Circulation can also be a problem in the elbows, hips and knees, but regular cardiovascular activity can help alleviate stiffness and strengthen the heart, making it pump more effectively.
