Tim Walz is no friend of Hong Kong or mainland China, take it from Jeffrey Ngo.

The core member of the disbanded Hong Kong dissident group Demosisto knows. Now in self-imposed exile in the United States, Ngo was ecstatic and went on a tweeting spree last week after US Vice-President Kamala Harris named Walz as her Democratic Party running mate in her presidential bid.

“As the 2024 campaign moves forward, I’m filled with enthusiasm and optimism that Harris can take advantage of Walz’s unique background,” Ngo wrote. “In fact, she should. I know he’ll make a fine vice-president, and I look forward to enlisting their help to fight for Hong Kong’s cause.”

If this former Hong Kong agent provocateur is so enthusiastic, you know Walz would just add more toxicity to this new cold war between Beijing and Washington.

I admitted I knew nothing about Walz until Harris came along, and for five seconds, I was somewhat puzzled by the Republican attacks on his supposed “China connections”.

Richard Grenell, a former US ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence under Donald Trump, wrote on X that “Communist China” would be “very happy” with Walz.
