Show the world who you are and how you feel with UNICEF HK's Make A Video contest
UNICEF invites secondary school students to create a one-minute video on the theme ‘I am ME’ for its annual contest
UNICEF HK's Make A Video Contest is back, and this year the theme is "I am ME".
The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF HK invites secondary school students to flex their filmmaking muscles by creating a one-minute video in which they can explore their identities.
On board to help guide the students taking part in this project are renowned filmmakers and youth advocates UNICEF HK Ambassador Adam Wong, and Heiward Mak - who will be the contest’s Creative Advisor and Judge. Also, UNICEF will hold a Video Clinic session to help contestants hone their filmmaking skills. The mentors teaching at this session include directors Vicky Wong and Steve Chan. Frank Hui, also a director, will be offering a personal sharing session on filmmaking on August 1.
The theme ‘I am ME’ not only encourages Hong Kong youth to explore their own identities, it allows them to play an active role in shaping society’s perception of its younger generation as well. These videos will offer our city the chance to see the world through the eyes of our people, and to gain a better understanding of their anxieties, concerns and points of view.
Co-organised by the ifva and Hong Kong Arts Centre, and with the support of Hang Seng Bank, the contest aims to provide a creative platform for young people to express themselves. The winning videos will be showcased across several channels and submitted to The One Minutes Jr. Awards Global Competition.
In addition, UNICEF HK will hold its summer video camps for 60 participants from 10 secondary schools and youth organisations, including students with special education needs, from care homes, from low-income family, and minorities.
The deadline for video submission is 21 August 2017.
A lot can happen in one minute - let's see what you can do!
