Difficulty: Challenger (Level 2)
Eight passengers were taken to hospital last month after a flight from Doha to Dublin experienced turbulence.
Emergency services, like ambulances, were seen on the ground around the plane after it landed in the Irish capital on May 26.
Paul Mocc was a passenger on the flight. He said he saw people “hitting the roof” and food and drink going everywhere.
He said he saw crew members limping around with bandages afterwards. Still, they did a great job continuing the flight service.
Air turbulence occurs when the air around an aeroplane moves up and down or sideways. It can make the plane shake and bump around (see graphic).

Turbulence is caused by different things. These include hot air rising and cold air sinking or when the wind changes direction or speed very quickly.
Most turbulence is minor. The best way to stay safe on a plane is to wear a seat belt whenever possible.
