Fairy tales are enchanting stories passed down over many years. These tales have things in common that make people love them.

Fairy tales can take us to magical lands. They might have beautiful castles, mysterious forests, and even rivers flowing with golden water.

These exciting, magical settings make us believe anything can happen. In fact, it usually happens when you least expect it.

Fairy tales have many interesting characters. They could be brave heroes who save lives or witches who cast powerful spells. They could also be animals who make friends with humans or kind-hearted princesses. These different characters teach us many valuable lessons.

Every fairy tale comes with a problem that needs solving. It could be a child in trouble or a treasure to find. It could also be an evil creature to get rid of or a curse to break.

The characters in these stories go on exciting adventures and overcome challenges with their friends. They keep trying and never give up. They also learn a lot during the journey.

Fairy tales often have happy endings. These give us hope, joy, and a sense of delight as we read. Let your imagination soar as you go on magical journeys in fairy tales!

Write your own fairy tale

Materials

  • paper

  • pencils

  • markers or crayons

Instructions

1. Plan your story by answering these questions: Who is the main character? What is their personality like? Where does the story take place? What problem must the main character solve, and how will they solve it?

2. Start by introducing your character and the world they live in. Then, present the problem and how they fix it. Think of a lesson readers can learn and include it at the end of the story.

3. Once you finish writing the story, add some illustrations.

4. Share your fairy tale with your friends and family. Feel free to email them to us too ([email protected]), and you might have a chance to get published.

Fairy tale alphabet challenge

Instructions

1. You will need four to six people for this activity. First, split into different teams. Your goal is to write the name of a fairy tale character that starts with each letter of the alphabet. You have two minutes.

2. Decide with the other teams if you want to allow searching online for answers or if you prefer to challenge yourselves without the internet. Then, set a timer and get writing!

3. When time is up, have another team check your list. The group with the most answers wins.
