Yara Hegazy, 10, Catholic Mission School
In English, my name means "light". I was born in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and I am both Egyptian and Malaysian. I have lived in Hong Kong for almost seven years. My favourite class is Chinese, and Putonghua is my favourite language. My teachers are so kind and supportive. Dancing and singing are my life. I play the piano and do cheerleading. Our cheer team just won the championship in March. Cheer is not just about pom-poms, but it is also about improving strength, discipline and teamwork.

I love the outdoors. My brothers, sisters and I like to go hiking during spring, autumn and winter, and we visit the beach during summer. I enjoy it very much when my dad takes us for long drives to the New Territories, especially to Tai Po for cycling and to Tai Mo Shan Country Park to enjoy nature. I like sketching Spider-Man, and I also like building cars with Legos. My favourite subject in school is maths, and I am good at it.

My passion for drawing has consistently brought me immense joy. With my sketchbook and pencils in hand, I delve deep into my imagination. Recently, my paintings were part of the Endless Enthusiasm Painting Exhibition in Sha Tin Town Hall. Joining this was a milestone for me, and it has given me the motivation to pursue my hobby. My goal is to keep improving until I establish myself as a professional artist event at a humble level. Drawing makes me happy as it allows me to express my creativity.
