Aaron Kwok chooses HSBC Jade for sound investments and informed wealth management decisions

To say AARON KWOK is multi-talented is a vast understatement. A dancer, singer and multiple award-winning actor all in one, the recent father’s passion for cars is well-known. He appreciates the similarities between motor car racing and investing. Here he talks about his recent campaign with HSBC Jade and his experience as a genuine long-time customer.
Time has been kind to Aaron Kwok. Having just turned 55, and looking immaculate as always, Kwok could nearly pass for a man almost half his years. Despite his recognised abilities on the dance floor and as a singer, Kwok feels his biggest career breakthrough was when he moved from singing to acting. What has not changed, however, is the fact that Kwok never settles for second best, whether it’s top-tier artistic production, or his personal choice of financial services.
Over the years, he’s also served as an ambassador for several luxury brands, from men’s fashion to watches. His most recent tie-up, however, is through a widely screened commercial in Hong Kong, in which he appears as a spokesperson for HSBC Jade’s financial services for high-net-worth customers. Because Kwok himself has been a long-standing client of the bank for more than 30 years, he feels confident that this enables him to speak truthfully about why he trusts HSBC Jade.
The commercial also highlights Kwok’s enthusiasm for motor car racing, which he thinks has more similarities with investing than might be imagined.
Says Kwok: “Racing and investing both rely on accurate data analysis to support decisions and reduce risks. Pre-race analysis allows drivers to make the most of their machines, while helping them minimise potential risks, and boost their overall performance on the track. Outside of his racing car, Kwok sees the same level of dedication from the HSBC Jade team, and has built a strong relationship with his relationship manager at HSBC Jade. “She’s worked with me for nine years. And we often share stories with each other, just as friends would. Whenever I need support, no matter wherever I am, she’s always keen to offer the best service, and I’m confident she’s taking the best possible care of my account and my investments.”
Apart from a wide range of investment products available on shelf, there are two wealth financing solutions curated for HSBC Jade clients. Kwok took his role in the commercial seriously. "I was heavily involved in the planning stages," he says. “We were in a meeting, and the director and production team had a lot of ideas relating to cars. So, I said to them, since there are so many connections between motor car racing and investment, why don’t we use a real race car in the commercial? Not just any car, but a functioning race car. There’s this limited-edition model and there are only ten of them in the world—and I’m lucky to be one of the owners of these cars myself. So I said, let’s use this type of car. The director, production team and HSBC all loved the idea—and I think my recommendation wasn’t a bad one! To add to the authenticity we also featured my helmet, which has been specially designed to match the car.”
Of course, being an actual client also builds up authenticity. Recalls Kwok: “I have been using HSBC since I opened my first bank account after graduation.” Through his 30-year relationship with the bank, Kwok is in a position to say what he has come to know about the people and the professional service, truthfully. “They are very nice and friendly, offer a thoughtful service, and show up to help you just when you need it.”
