Tencent Cloud has emerged as a reliable partner for businesses to connect with China, thanks to its experience and expertise in the Chinese market.

At the top echelon of cloud solutions providers, fast-growing Tencent Cloud is a relatively young company. Just a few years after its 2013 launch, the firm became one of the largest cloud service providers in China, and one of the fastest growing in the world.

Poshu Yeung, Senior Vice President at Tencent Cloud International, says “We help businesses stay connected and continue to grow, even in these challenging times like the pandemic. This helping nature aligns with our company’s vision—value for users, tech for good.”

If the accelerated cloud adoption across businesses is a global factor that fuels the demand for related services, then the fact that China being the second largest and fastest-growing economy in the world keeps its doors open for global businesses, is therefore more specific for the thriving performance of Tencent Cloud.

A Trusted Partner to Connect with China

“Tencent Cloud has been one of the preferred partners for many overseas businesses to connect with China, thanks to Tencent’s 20 plus years of experience in the market,” Yeung said. “This is in addition to our deep understanding of the needs of Chinese consumers, as well as our strong capabilities to help enterprises set up new businesses and succeed in China through every step under our one-stop China Connect solution.”

Yeung makes reference to Tencent’s advanced consumer-to-business, or C2B, capability for industries. This know-how has evolved due to its extensive experience in consumer Internet, messaging, audio, video and gaming technologies.

Tencent is well-known for its C side business process. Meanwhile, its major social platforms —WeChat, Weixin, and QQ, reach more than one billion users, providing valuable local market knowledge and operational experience. Making full use of its C-side experience to partners, Tencent provides enterprises with a comprehensive range of services. This allows the company to better serve users, improve their operational efficiency, and finally realise the closed loop of C2B2C— to be a complete business process.

Tencent Cloud is also integrating the latest innovations for technologies to help businesses to reduce their costs, and increase efficiency while identifying new business opportunities. Yeung adds that Tencent Cloud aims to lower the threshold for enterprises to connect with users. All while offering more online and offline resources, and covering a larger market.

The key is customised solutions

Tencent Cloud has been considered as one of the go-to cloud solutions for multinational corporations most keen to enter the China market. Importantly, the company refuses to offer ‘one size fits all’ cookie-cutter solutions. Instead, it works to provide precise customised solutions so its customers and partners can then be perfectly positioned to benefit from China’s vast potential.

This policy has guided the company well. Tencent Cloud’s revenue from the international markets grew by 100 per cent, year-on-year in 2020, with overseas business growth being a one of the critical strategic areas.

Today the company is represented in 27 geographic regions and 68 availability zones in major cities around the world. This is in addition to a content delivery network (CDN) of over 2,800 acceleration nodes across more than 70 countries and regions, offering a combined bandwidth of over 200Tbps. Generally speaking, the more acceleration nodes in a CDN, the faster and more reliable content access is concerned.

While the company’s recent CDN and related development is encouraging enough, being a relatively young player in cloud services means the undeniable challenge of not having the ‘first-mover’ advantage. Tencent Cloud addresses this issue with creativity. It builds a comprehensive cloud partner ecosystem in both newly emerging markets, and fully-developed countries. Thus making the strengthening of its partner network a priority.

Not only does Tencent Cloud provide professional training conducted by seasoned industry practitioners to ensure channel partners are equipped with top-tier expertise; the company also provides go-to-market support to help generate leads for partners. These leads are supplemented by dedicated support from Tencent Cloud’s channel managers, providing extra backing from the company’s business consultants to win key opportunities.

Yeung likes to use brick toys as an analogy. “[As a customer] you tell me what you want, including the characteristics and style of a solution you want. Tencent Cloud will pick the perfect colour and size of blocks for you, and so design a solution created just for you.” Yeung declares that the Tencent Cloud Team always studies the specific needs of their customers and partners.

Certainly Tencent’s more than 20 years of technological innovation, its robust infrastructure foundation, and its extensive global CDN has worked to the company’s advantage.

To further the company’s advantages, Tencent Cloud has been promoting the development of audio and video technology while continuing its research in cloud, virtual reality, and augmented reality technologies. All with the goal of finding breakthroughs whenever possible to maintain its position in cloud technology.

Despite its relentless pursuit of technological breakthroughs, Tencent Cloud knows the significance of security in the space of international business.

Tencent Cloud is supported by no less than seven security laboratories. Plus a fully integrated intelligent security management system, which prioritises cloud security research, operation, and platform protection. Meanwhile, in terms of security products, Tencent Cloud offers a range of techniques to ensure the stability and availability of customers’ offerings.

With its formless state in the cloud industry, Tencent Cloud manages to demonstrate a pattern for healthy growth: cutting-edge technology applications and comprehensive security solutions. Add to this a world-class network, and a friendly “our customers come first” service approach. The fact that Tencent Cloud can ride on its experience accumulated in Tencent in China has also proved its worth.
