HKUST would not have triumphed in our teaching and research endeavors without the unfailing support of our alumni, friends, supporters and the community. We are truly thankful to all the donors, whose generous giving does not only testify to their faith in HKUST, but also empowers the University to continue to advance in frontier research, student development and enrichment as well as world-class teaching.

Special tribute goes to the donors of the University’s 25th Anniversary Global Vision Campaign which has brought in over $1 billion since January 2015 to support various new initiatives of the University.  Renowned businessman and philanthropist Dr the Honorable Li Dak Sum, GBM, JP, made generous giving to set up two endowment funds – one to help drive our high-impact research and another to provide scholarships for outstanding undergraduates with financial needs from Ning Po College and Ning Po No. 2 College. Mr Martin Ka Shing Lee, son of HKUST’s longtime supporter The Honorable Lee Shau Kee, GBM, Chairman of Henderson Land, also made a benevolent donation for the construction of an Innovation Building that will take our innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives to new heights.

First-class facilities are one of the keys to students’ whole-person development. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust supported the building of a new hostel for research postgraduate students, which offers accommodation and residential programs to enrich students’ campus experience. A multi-purpose auditorium, which will house a variety of events including concerts, theatrical performances, meetings, lectures and seminars, was made possible by The Shaw Foundation Hong Kong Ltd. Meanwhile, HK JEBN Limited, a company founded by an alumnus, supported the development of the University’s waterfront, the terrace and a covered walkway between Cheng Yu Tung Building and the new auditorium.

Outstanding faculty is another key behind HKUST’s academic and research excellence. To keep up the momentum, a number of patrons – CLP Holdings Limited, Crown Worldwide Group, Mr Daniel C K Yu, Jebsen Educational Foundation, Lam Woo Foundation Limited, Mr Richard Samuel Elman, Tencent Charity Foundation Ltd, Wei Lun Foundation Ltd and HK JEBN Limited – have made generous donations to help us retain and recruit distinguished talents from around the world.

Each donation makes a difference, it gives us the strength to move on and make further contributions to science, technology and the society.
