Tucked away in the dynamic, multicultural landscape of SoHo buzzing with upscale bars and chic restaurants is the rarest of finds: a light-flooded, open plan duplex with a large private flat roof garden.

Overlooking the historic creative hub PMQ, against a backdrop of greenery and views of vibrant streetscape, the 28 Aberdeen St. duplex was designed with sophisticated city dwellers in mind to offer a refreshing take on understated luxury and sleek city living.

Every detail, from colour palette to interior geometry and exterior walls, was given great thought by the best creative minds in the city, including such renowned names as The Development Studio (TDS) founder Keith Kerr, landscape architect Adrian Norman, sculptor Izumi Masatoshi, architect WH Lam, and interior designer Frank Leung.

“We want to create something for discerning buyers with a desire for something different. We take our responsibility to create work that stands for generations very seriously, and 28 Aberdeen St. is the manifestation of this: a beautiful, functional space for the occupants with a simple calm aesthetic that will stand the test of time,” says TDS founder Keith Kerr.

Spatial fluidity, the core inspiration, is expressed by a graceful staircase leading to the vast ensuite bedroom, floor-to-ceiling windows, and large balconies for a harmonious living experience. But the signature duplex goes beyond impeccable style to offer functionality as well, with a state-of-the-art kitchen outfitted with top range Miele appliances and Bulthaup kitchen cabinets, also in the rest of the building’s apartments, that will delight serious cooks.

The interior staircase leads to a vast second floor bedroom designed for warmth and comfort with a distinctive layout. Featuring delicate bedside light decorations, the bedroom offers a three-piece ensuite bathroom finished in light marble and his-and-hers wash basins.

However, the 653 sq. ft. private flat roof garden, nearly the space of the livable floor area, takes the crowning prize as the most standout feature, an almost unimaginable luxury in Central city living. The generous roof garden is perfect for hosting al fresco entertaining and outdoor dining parties, with its spectacular views of Hong Kong’s hippest and most happening district.

“We are very excited to launch the ‪28 Aberdeen St. duplex. It’s an elegant sanctuary in the heart of Central, with its flat roof and graceful private spaces,” says Alex Leung, Partner and Head of Projects at The Development Studio (tds). “The living space has outstanding views over PMQ with floor to ceiling windows with custom window shades, and a design aesthetic which we have brought to curatorship of the entire development.”

The contrast between the vibrant streetscape, against the contemporary and modern interiors, truly makes 28 Aberdeen St. a peaceful refuge just within reach of the buzz and excitement of downtown living that both locals and expatriates will enjoy.

Elegant modernism is blended with a Japanese aesthetic brought in by Izumi Masatoshi of Izumi Stone Works, who selected a Buddhist pine tree as the centerpiece of the reception foyer and created a clean, simply cut Aji granite sculpture to extend a feeling of warm, gentleness, and a sense of home at 28 Aberdeen St. “The unique hues on the stone resemble layers of clouds, a texture that gives people a sense of security, greeting you in the morning and welcoming you at night,” says Mr. Masatoshi.

The relaxed and comfortable aesthetic extends to the typical apartment units at 28 Aberdeen St., which features a unique floor plan for flexibility between entertaining and rest and the finest finishing materials. The development’s exteriors was given the same attentive detail as its striking interiors—metallic materials in dark shades coupled with sensual architecture geometry that lends an aura of splendour. Last but not least, residential entrance walls were thoughtfully marbled in Verde Marina, a natural granite from India, with delicate shades of grey that juxtaposes the building’s metal for an ultimate elegance.

Distinctive apartment design, fully-furnished functionality and prime downtown location makes a winning combination that has proved to be popular with investors and urban sophisticates, as only a handful of apartments remain for sale. The walking distance to a treasure trove of chic boutiques, cafes, and restaurants, as well as the IFC and MTR, makes the development an enviable piece of prime real estate where city dwellers can enjoy a serene oasis within the vibe of metropolitan, heart-of-the-city living.
