Nurturing the young

The Artisanal Movement starts with the youngest members of the community with play spaces that encourage children to unleash their limitless creativity in order to live an imaginatively driven life.  To realise this vision, Adrian Cheng invited award-winning children’s facility design team Carve studio from Amsterdam to create a one-of-a-kind kids’ playground with an innovative playing environment that covers approximately 17,000 sq ft of space.

One of the largest playgrounds in residential projects in the Clear Water Bay area where MOUNT PAVILIA is located, it is also groundbreaking in concept and design.  In addition to bringing ‘The Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ to life, it serves as a meeting place for all ages to build great social value for the new artisanal community that resides there.

Minimalistic design to stimulate the imagination

Internationally renowned for their innovative children’s facilities in Europe such as Van Beuningenplein in Amsterdam and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, Carve custom designed minimalistic and unique play spaces in five different areas catering to a variety of age ranges.  From a toddler area, Central Park and a water play zone to a family urban farm and a multi-intelligence indoor play area, they work seamlessly to unlock children’s potential and ignite their imagination.  The play possibilities at the five areas are infinite, with children inspired to discover something new with every visit. By using their imagination, they can uncover different ways of interpreting the spaces, creating fresh and interesting encounters time after time.

While play is normally connected to colour, Carve differs by using the play spaces as white convasses to stimulate the imagination. Light, toned-down shades and white dominate the colour scheme, offering high transparency, while the fluid lines blend well with the sculptural design of the MOUNT PAVILIA environ. Resembling art sculptures for children, climbing frames are specially designed around a semi-open cylinder, allowing kids to feel like they belong to their own little world while mingling easily with other companions.

The Theory of Multiple Intelligences

If the physical spaces were the hardware, ‘The Theory of Multiple Intelligences’ concept developed by Dr Howard Gardner, professor of psychology at Harvard University, is the software that unleashes children’s potential development of different skills.  The theory establishes the eight abilities of kids to achieve this including musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, naturalistic, intrapersonal and interpersonal.

Creating a future of green living

A core value of artisanal living at MOUNT PAVILIA is sustainable development where a balanced ecology benefits the community.

As with the playground, green living starts with the next generation.  At MOUNT PAVILIA, an emphasis is placed on educating children on the value of environmental friendliness and organic practices through interactive and first-hand experiences.

The family urban farm reflects green living in an active and educational walk.  The bicycle parking spaces at the complex encourage residents to use environmentally friendly forms of transportation, while the planting gardens and education area allow the whole family to plant crops together and experience nature’s ecosystem through Aquaponics and Hydroponics.  Through the practice of Agroponics, flowers bloom year-round in a magnificent display of nature.

In addition, solar and wind energy are harnessed from photovoltaic panels and wind turbines installed on roofs of the residential buildings, providing renewable energy to the development and creating a green future for the community.

At MOUNT PAVILIA, green living also means healthy living with plenty of outdoor activities for the family to enjoy together.  Thoughtfully incorporated in the architectural planning of the complex are approximately 340,000 sq ft of clubhouse and landscape area, an approximately 400-metre-long Woodland hiking trail, an approximately 100-metre-long art trail and an approximately 950-metre-long cycling track.  This is where residents can enjoy the quiet beauty of nature and the joy of recreation, nurturing family bonding and living a healthy lifestyle that suits their individual tastes.

For those who embrace the belief that children and environmental sustainability are the key to the future, MOUNT PAVILIA offers the best environment for families to realise their vision for the future.
