CH2M harnesses global knowledge and relationships to help local communities

Global consulting, design, construction and project management company CH2M has played a key role in Singapore's urban development. A tunnelling expert and pioneer in purifying waste water, the company partnered with the government to create Singapore's world-renowned water recycling system. 

CH2M's contribution to the modern city state, however, goes beyond water reuse. Its undertakings in Singapore have ranged from the construction of data centres and semiconductor manufacturing facilities to assisting government formulate policies on air quality and height specifications for buildings.

"We've always stepped beyond our contractual commitment to make a fundamental contribution to the city's development and sustainability," says Steven Nye, CH2M's regional managing director for Asia-Pacific. "The few extra per cent that takes a company from average to great is about mobilising the discretionary energy every employee has, and I'm proud to say that some of that discretionary energy actually makes a difference in the world."

True enough, the company's roughly 26,000 employees have helped thousands of communities worldwide. CH2M shares with more than 50 countries its engineering and project management expertise in core areas of water, transport, environment and nuclear, oil, gas and chemicals, and urban environment. 

"Our ability to deliver client outcomes spanning the entire spectrum of the project lifecycle, from inception to operation, differentiates us," Nye says. "We harness our technical knowledge and seamless global relationships to deliver on a local level."

The company is sharpening its focus and preparing for growth around markets such as Australia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. In China, CH2M will service multinational companies that value global capability. 

"We'll focus on leveraging our global knowledge and technical capabilities as we pursue regional growth through fanatical client centricity," Nye says.
