Vietjet is a low cost international airline from Vietnam. They are offering 200,000 round trip air tickets at HK$0 from Nov 16 to Nov 18 under “12pm! It’s time to VietJet” campaign in order to celebrate the launching of their new route connecting Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City. The promotion also applies for other international routes from Vietnam to Busan, Seoul, Kaohsiung, Taipei, Tainan, and Taichung with the travel periods Dec 1, 2016 to Dec 31, 2017. The overwhelming response paves the way for their forthcoming additional online promotion blitz.

VietJet’s CEO becomes a billionaire

The president and chief executive officer of VietJet is Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, who established this low-cost carrier in 2007 with her far-sighted vision dating back in 2001, six years before the Vietnam government opened the sky to private carriers. This entrepreneur is soon to become a female billionaire as VietJet goes global and public.

Her ambitious plans began with setting up a new venture with high entry barrier, positioning it as a new-age carrier, and now beefing up its fleet size from currently 40 to over 200 by 2023 - twice the size of the national carrier in Vietnam and our Hong Kong home based giant.

VietJet experienced a burgeoning revenue growth of over 200 percent to US$488 million in 2015, contributed by the 9.3 million passengers carried, rose by 66 percent from the previous year. One more month to conclude their operating performance, the airline is not far from their goals of reaching 15 million passenger numbers and doubling the revenue this year, with more new routes between Taiwan, Korea and Vietnam debuted this year, as well as the inaugural flights from Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City every day from early December.

New Era of Flight Experiences, Differentiate with Traditional Airlines

Their success attributes to the prudent shift in corporate strategies during the global downturn by offering more flexibility to its air passengers for airfare reduction. VietJet highly regards their human assets, which can be exemplified by raising cleaners’ wage after CEO’s cabin cleaning experience, and she cooks for the staff during festivals, yet this rare gem in corporate values and the prestigious awards won are sometimes overshadowed by their striking marketing campaigns. From the legendary in-flight bikini shows performed by flight attendants and Bikini Contest, to offering free tickets in so many occasions this year (Vietnam’s Women Day, celebrations in launching new flight routes, etc.), VietJet has never failed to surprise and amaze its customers.

The recent growth of income level and middle-class in Asia fuels the demand for air traffic to exotic travel destinations like Vietnam, coupling with their proactive approach in leading the future of customer experience, VietJet is set to soar as an up-and-coming giant in Asia’s sky.
