The iconic “Bond watch” that gained cinematic fame has undergone a complete overhaul, with current James Bond and Omega ambassador Daniel Craig bringing the new Seamaster Diver 300M to the surface.

Going strong after seven decades

The Omega Seamaster needs no introduction to watch aficionados. Its impeccable military pedigree is legendary.  Debuted 70 years ago in 1948 to coincide with the brand’s 100th anniversary, the first Omega Seamaster was based upon models made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. The classically designed, highly water-resistant and chronometer-level precision watches sealed out water and sealed in accuracy.

Making waves for 25 years

In 1993, Omega made a triumphant return to the world of diving watches by introducing the Seamaster Professional Diver 300M with skeletonised hands, a wavy dial pattern and blue bezel that became an instant success with its design and technical prowess.  The destiny of the watch would change forever in 1995 when Pierce Brosnan wore it in GoldenEye; it became known as the “Bond watch”.

With its British naval background dovetailing with Bond’s, Seamasters have been the watch of choice for 007 in all subsequent James Bond movies.

A new makeover

In 2018, Omega celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Seasmaster with a modern reboot, introducing a bold new Seamaster Professional Diver 300M collection with a total facelift numbering 14 models.

While the look and the movement are new, the 2018 collection faithfully maintains the DNA of the original Seamaster with its ocean spirit and technology.

The case has been sized up to 42mm to fit the new METAS-certified Master Chronometer Calibre 8800 movement that takes the timepiece to an unprecedented level of precision, performance, accuracy and magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss.

The helium escape valve, located at 10 o’clock, now comes in a conical shape and with patented new technology that guarantees the watch remains water-resistant up to 5 bar even if the valve is accidentally opened under water.

underwater, the watch is guaranteed

Design wise, the popular wave dial is back. It is now made from polished ceramic in black, blue, or sun-brushed PVD chrome colour, with the wave pattern engraved by laser. All indexes have been raised and are filled with Super LumiNova, while the date aperture has been moved to 6 o’clock and the skeleton hands have been subtly reshaped. The iconic diving bezel is now made from ceramic with the diving scale in Ceragold™ or white enamel.

The solid caseback is edged with a wave pattern and reveals the Master Chronometer movement.  Finally, each model is presented on a traditional iconic

metal bracelet with a new ergonomic design or an integrated black or blue rubber strap for a contemporary and sporty look.

A professional watch above and below the waves

Whether you are a diver, an athlete or a master of the universe, the new Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M is your go-to watch for activities above and below the waves.  Join the legion of famous people who have counted on the watch for their record-breaking exploits – from Frenchman Roland Specker who set a world record in freshwater free dive to a depth of 80m in Lake Neuchatel in 1993 to the legendary Sir Peter Blake, the New Zealand yachtsman who led his country to successive victories in the America’s Cup.  Not to mention international sports stars such as the swimmer Alexander Popov and tennis champion Martina Hingis who wore the Seamaster to victory. And needless to say, the most famous special agent in the world James Bond.
