STYLE Bangkok, international consumer goods trade fair, showcasing Thailand as Asia’s leader of lifestyle
Bangkok is not just the capital of Thailand. It is also a leading city in terms of lifestyle, thanks to the outstanding Thai people’s sense of style. Thai designers and creatives, from fashion to furniture and graphic, have gained worldwide recognition. Furthermore, Thailand is one ofthe world’s top travel destinations, paving the way for numerous lifestyle product-related businesses such as hotels, restaurants, spas, and other businesses that related to creative economy, which create millions of jobs nationwide.
Globalization, technology, and social media have all transformed consumer behavior. In 2017, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, launched STYLE Bangkok, an international consumer goods trade fair that offers all sorts of lifestyle products. The event held is the largest of its kind in terms of exhibition area size, responding to the changing consumer lifestyles. The fair is a combination of three international trade fairs, namely Bangkok International Fashion Fair and Bangkok International Leather Fair (BIFF & BIL), Bangkok International Gifts and Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG + BIH), and Thailand International Furniture Fair (TIFF) – a result of cooperation of an alliance of more than 24 organizations, both in the public and private sectors.
STYLE Bangkok was most recently held in April 2018. The event was a success both in terms of the number of exhibitors, with more than 1,700 booths by both Thai and foreign exhibitors, and the number of visitors, with more than 51,000 attendees. The fair’s total sales amounted to THB 2,400 Millions.
The next edition of STYLE Bangkok is scheduled to take place from 17-21 October 2018 (trade days from 17-19 October, 10.00-18.00 hours and public days for visitors from 10.00-21.00 hours) at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), Bangkok. For this event, the DITP re-emphasizes the concept of “Crenovative Origin: Local Wisdom, Stylish Creativity,” focusing on creative designs, state-of-the-art innovation, and original lifestyle products.
“Given the success of previous events, STYLE Bangkok has showcased its potential as the region’s lifestyle hub. The event has the largest number of lifestyle products on offer, from fashion items, leather products, gifts, to houseware and furniture. As a result, this fair is like no other. Visitors can experience the trends of products from several categories. We are living in a world where everything is interconnected. The trends of one product category can easily influence the others. STYLE Bangkok is the only event in Asia that offers full spectrum of lifestyle ideas.”
“A new change in the forthcoming STYLE Bangkok event in October 2018 is the selection of qualified exhibitors, both Thai and foreign, to attract traders and visitors from across the globe. In addition, the DITP will focus on businesses related to lifestyle products, such as hotels, real estate, as well architects and interior designers, to expand both buyer and visitor bases,” said Mrs. Chantira Jimreivat Vivatrat, DITP Director-General.
A number of special exhibitions will also be held at the fair. Notable ones include Creative Asia, which displays creative products of up and coming designers from all over Asia; T-Style, which showcases fashion and lifestyle products by Thai designers; Innovation and Design Zone, displaying the latest innovations; and Functional Textile, where the new possibilities for textile materials are being discovered.
Another highlight of STYLE Bangkok not to be missed is a special exhibition titled The Residence by François Russo, the French designer who has worked for the world’s top luxury brands such as Chanel, Blyszak, and Poltrona Frau. Russo himself will be the curator at this exhibition. The Residence will exhibit a collection of the best works in design, art, and lifestyle products in Thailand, all in one single space. It will be a combination of the curator’s personal art and design collection with Thai lifestyle products. The Residence will be an inspiration for visitors to experience the new trends. More importantly, the fair will be a testament that Thailand’s lifestyle products are at the same level of world-class design and have a great potential in the international market.
STYLE Bangkok will be held from 17-21 October 2018 at BITEC, Bangkok. The trade days are from 17-19 October, 10.00-18.00 hours. Visitors can visit on public days from 20-21 October, 10.00-21.00 hours.
