Better still, this year’s street market has a new format that will see its stalls open all week. Each weekday, from now until February, Taikoo Place, Quarry Bay transforms into a gourmet’s go-to. Four months of delicious market flavours start with the Coffee Festival in November, will morph into a beer fest next month, and then becomes a showcase for organic and sustainable delights throughout January and February. So, round up your work colleagues, tap your social circle, gather your family and friends, and make it a daily date at the bustling business hub in Taikoo Place. Meeting grounds Coffee aficionados will find international baristas and local talents brewing up beans from around the world this month. Every weekday from breakfast through to lunch, follow your nose to embark on a flavourful journey brewed by 12 of the finest coffee vendors. Award-winning baristas have made the trip to Hong Kong to participate in the Coffee Festival. From Malaysia comes Artisan Roastery, a brand which crafts single-origin coffee with passion and that is dedicated to sustainability and direct trade. While from Thailand, Chiang Mai’s Ristr8to will brew its famous specialty coffees, such as Godmother Mocha and Koffegroni. Hong Kong’s local heroes are represented by Reaction Coffee, which strives to source the best green beans in the world and freshly roast them in small batches to produce the most distinctive, aromatic and beautiful coffee. Try, too, its exclusive dish specially prepared for this event, called Secret Menu. Zero One Coffee & Roastery will introduce several signature drinks including Dirty Chai, a popular coconut latte with a caramel aftertaste, and Yirgacheffe, a unique drink that blends adds a sweet floral scent to their single origin coffee. Across the month, complimentary coffee workshops will be staged every Thursday from 12.45pm to 1.30pm. They are sure to be a hit. This is your chance to join other coffee connoisseurs in learning the secrets behind the barista. Prepare to master latte art and understand the farm-to-bean process as you enjoy your lunch. All the while, know that the organisers of the Tong Chong Street Market are continuing their commitment to sustainability. Visitors can borrow utensils such as a bowl, chopsticks and spoon from the marketplace Sustainability Corner, and everyone is encouraged to support eco-friendliness by cleaning their reusable food containers at the on-site washing basin. Or, bring your own cup. Any market-goer who brings their own cup and registers on the Taikoo Social app will enjoy a HK$5 discount on their coffee purchase. New flavours to try Feeling hungry? Refuel with specialty dining options. From Monday to Friday next week, Burger Joys are frying up delicious burgers and sliders, Tomato Story have classic soup Garganelli and baked tomato rice just in time for the mild weather, and Check-In Taipei is serving Taiwanese delicacies with a twist — such as Truffle Corn Egg Omelette. Foodies who do not live or work in Taikoo Place aren’t left out. Make an order via the foodpanda app or website, sit back and enjoy delivery to areas from North Point to Shau Kei Wan. Next month sees new flavour sensations at Tong Chong Street Market, with the chance to try limited-edition craft beer infused with coffee from the experts at Young Master. Pair this epic beer with mouth-watering bites from the Beef & Liberty food truck. The New Year will begin with a wellness boost. Healthy, organic and vegan food choices feature at the Tong Chong Street Market in January and February. Whether your appetite runs to a delectable snack, a long table banquet or wholesome lunchboxes made from fresh local produce, keep your eyes out for daily specials to energise the body and mind, from breakfast right through until lunch. Tong Chong Street Market is presented by Taikoo Place, one of Hong Kong’s best-planned business hubs, which is owned and managed by Swire Properties. This year’s feature event, the Coffee Festival, runs until November 29, with stalls open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 2.30pm. Entry is free, as are the workshops.
