American School Hong Kong (ASHK) is a kindergarten (KG2) to Grade 12, non-profit, college preparatory program located in the Tai Po community. With a rigorous American and international program, our inquiry and concept-based approach to teaching and learning promotes the development of 21st century skills to prepare our students for their future. The US Common Core, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Social Studies Standards provide the framework for learning with English serving as the language of instruction and communication. The school offers a holistic program where excellence in the academic and personal development domains are all valued and celebrated. Intellectual development is also of paramount importance, with significant emphasis placed on the social, physical, emotional, and creative domains to provide a holistic supportive experience for the development of the whole child. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) will be available for High School students beginning in 2021.
Our extra-curricular offerings include a wide range of activities. 'Learn to Play' is available for the younger ages to help develop their cognitive skills in a fun environment. For students aged 10 and above, ASHK has competitive teams in the ISSFHK, in a variety of sports. In addition, the school offers Student Leadership opportunities, Clubs, and Community Service programs. During summer break, we offer the Stanford Academic Summer Program and global opportunity programs, involving a partnership with ASHK’s sister schools in Esol Education.
Fully Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, American School Hong Kong is owned and operated by Esol Education, the world’s largest operator of international American schools.
