[First published on September 11, 1967] Some 700 school children will begin the school year on Thursday at the Hong Kong International School, the first Government-approved American school to open in the Colony.

Parents toured the school yesterday. They were invited to see tbe facilities it had to offer. The school is situated just off South Bay Road and has 32 classrooms capable of accommodating 750 pupils.

The school, which will be run by the Missouri Synod of the Lutheran Church, will be the first in the Colony run entirely on the American system of education.

The cost of the building and equipment was about $5.7m. The Lutheran Church paid one-third of the cost. The remainder was raised by loans from private sources. The land is on lease from Government.
