Hong Kong Ice Hockey officials Association Game Officials Ready to take the Ice

In Partnership WithHKAHC & HKAIH

The 2016-17 hockey season is now fully underway and while the teams have been preparing all summer for the games to begin, there is another team which has been hard at work behind the scenes.

The Game Officials for the HKIHOA are also ready for another action packed season after months of on-ice and off-ice training. This year, there will be nine Level 4 game officials taking this ice, the highest level obtainable. To achieve this status, you must have a minimum of 5 years of officiating experience, attend a pre-season seminar, and complete both an open book rules test and a closed book rules test. This rigorous training program raises the bar with the game officials, producing high quality officiating for the games.

Not to be overshadowed, there are also several Level 3 candidates who will be eligible for Level 4 status next season. These include individuals who are also very experienced and are fully capable to handle any level of hockey in Hong Kong.

The HKIHOA is also excited to announce that there are 10 Level 1 candidates to join our staff this year, along with 5 level 1’s from last season who made the jump to level 2. These young candidates will look to hone their skills in the youth levels of hockey in Hong Kong and with the help and guidance from several of our Level 4 referees who are also trained supervisors, their skill development will be accelerated.

Good luck to these new game officials and congratulations to all for your hard work and dedication!
