“The Winner Medical Kings held off Team Verity to become the 2016-17 Principal Standard League Champions on March 28th. Alvin Sham (2G) single-handedly led the Kings to their overtime win after a nail-biting game.

Ray Loo (31 saves) and King Ho (24 saves) both shut out the opposing team all through the first period, until Team Verity’s Lokel Wong caught a break halfway through the game and got a shot over Loo’s glove, putting Verity up 1-0.

Their lead lasted an entire period, and just when it looked like Verity was going to take the win, Sham caught a pass from Hayes To and fired a shot from the short side with 8:34 left on the clock. The puck found its way to the back of the net, and put Winner Medical Kings back in the game.

With the 2 teams tied at 1-1, the regular game time expired and the game went into overtime. Finding his groove, Sham wasted no time and roofed the game-winner pass Ho’s glove a mere 22 second after the puck drop, winning his team the championship.”
