For years, Huawei hasn’t had much luck selling smartphones in the US. But it seems to be making headway with its flagship laptop -- the MateBook X Pro has been up for sale on Microsoft, Amazon and Newegg since the end of last week, and it’s already out of stock on Amazon and Newegg.

The MateBook X Pro was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in March and has since received strong reviews. At first glance, it looks a lot like the MacBook Pro (like the sleek aluminum design, dark keys and even the name), but also has a few key differences.

It has a 13.9” touch screen with incredibly thin bezels. They were able to do that by taking the camera off the screen and putting it in the keyboard -- press a special key and the camera pops out from underneath. Huawei said on its website it’s hidden inside to safeguard your privacy… but the catch is that it doesn’t film you from a flattering angle.

Part of the reason for its success might be Huawei’s pricing. The MateBook X Pro is much cheaper in the US than in its home territory. A model that comes with Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and 512GB storage sells for US$1,499 in the US -- and US$2,038 in China.
