Kuk offers heart-shaped cookies to mark birth of her precious new 'Heart'

Congratulations to Jo Kuk Cho-lam, the latest Hong Kong celebrity to become a mother. The actress and radio-show host gave birth to a 3.3kg girl by Caesarean section on July 20 at the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital.

The baby, named Sum (Cantonese for 'heart'), was Kuk and businessman husband Andrew Lau Wing-hung's first child. The couple got married in 2010. They said they hoped Sum would grow up to be true to her heart - as her name implied.

Lau was by Kuk's side throughout the procedure, and the couple shed tears of joy when they heard their baby's first cry.

Mother and daughter were discharged from hospital the day Typhoon Vicente blew in to the city, but made it home safely before the typhoon signal No10 was hoisted.

Kuk, star of Love in a Puff and owner of a sweet-soup dessert shop, made heart-shaped cookies to give to friends and relatives to celebrate the baby's arrival.

It's been quite a year for celebrity baby boomers. Apart from Kuk, Canto-pop singers Kelly Chen Wai-lam, Andy Lau Tak-wah and Miriam Yeung Chin-wah have also welcomed babies this year.
