Stream-Flo leads in wellhead technology

Discovery Reports

Stream-Flo Industries' passion for technology drives its leadership in Canada's wellhead equipment segment. "Our success comes from our people and the amount of research and development we put into our organisation," says president Mark McNeill. "We have more engineers than all our competitors in Canada put together."

Stream-Flo designs and manufactures oilfield equipment which includes a full line of wellheads and Christmas trees (pipe and valve assemblies) used in upstream oil and gas exploration and production. All of Stream-Flo's offerings can handle pressures of up to 15,000 pounds per square inch and all corrosive services.

Stream-Flo has developed technology several years ahead of what the industry requires. As it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, Stream-Flo continues to lead in unconventional gas and oil technology.

Its patented products promote cost and time savings and its specialised equipment for pad drilling can save clients up to 24 hours of rig time. Stream-Flo is a leader in Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage and has vast experience since the inception of this technology. Stream-Flo's emergency shutdown system automatically closes wells in cases of surges in pipe pressure or breaks in a flow line - ensuring safety and environmental responsibility. With its high degree of reliability, Stream-Flo's products have gained popularity worldwide, especially on the mainland.

"We sell more than a commodity. Our expertise is really to provide field-specific solutions," McNeill says. "When we sell our products, we're a partner in the field trying to optimise our customers' revenues. This is why they keep us around."

Stream-Flo plans to expand its China operations under executive vice-president for engineering Tony Lam. To support its expansion, Stream-Flo has a partner in the northern mainland and is also looking for new talents who are eager to learn and develop pioneering technology for the industry.

"We want regional people running our business because it's very important for us to understand the business culturally," McNeill says. "We've had a long relationship with Chinese companies both in the production and supply side and I think that is a big key for success."
