Mother accused of murder attempt

A MOTHER accused of attempting to murder her four young daughters by giving them sleeping pills, rat poison and mothballs wept in the dock at Sha Tin Court yesterday.

Sou Leng-leng, 43, allegedly tried to kill her children: Chan Pui-pui, 14; Chan Ting-ting, 12; Chan Oi-ming, nine; and Chan Oi-yee, four.

The poisoning is alleged to have taken place at the family home in Ma On Shan, Sha Tin, last week.

Prosecutor Esther Mak said the four children were treated at the Prince of Wales Hospital.

They were in satisfactory condition.

Magistrate Winston Leung adjourned the case until April 24. No plea was taken.
