5 colleges awarded recognition

FIVE colleges in China and Taiwan have been awarded recognition by the Hong Kong Government since it said it would consider non-British academic qualifications when recruiting civil servants. The five are the South China University of Technology, the Shanghai Jiaotung University and Fudan University in China, plus the National Taiwan University and the National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan.

A government spokesman said the applications were approved by an assessment committee comprising representatives from the Civil Service Branch, the Education and Manpower Branch and the Hong Kong Council for Academic Accreditation.
