'Flu victim Tempest may miss Poland clash

HONG KONG coaches Wong Man-wai and Tony Sealy will decide this morning whether or not to field Eastern striker Dale Tempest for tonight's third-place play-off with Poland in the Carlsberg Cup.

Tempest is suffering from a bout of 'flu and both coaches will have to decide whether to use the prolific Hong Kong League goalscorer or Mansion's Nigerian Collins Udeh as Lee Bullen's strike partner.

Hong Kong will field virtually the same side beaten 1-0 by Sweden in their opening match on Monday although Venezuelan goalkeeper Felix Golindano will get a full game after taking over from injured South China Dutch 'keeper Werner Kooistra, who badly twisted his ankle in Monday's defeat.

Golindano came on as a replacement for Kooistra in the 37th minute against Sweden and made a fine debut for the territory. Instant-Dict 'keeper Mick Leonard has been called up as a substitute.

Hong Kong are on a win bonus of $60,000 against Poland, who are still reeling from their shock 5-0 thrashing by Japan.

Polish head coach Wladyslav Stachurski said he was undecided whether to replace 'keeper Andrzej Wozniak, who was outstanding against France in their Euro qualifying 1-1 draw in August but played poorly against Japan.

'There will be changes in our lineup. I am impressed by what I saw from Hong Kong,' said Stachurski.
