Martinex makes life easier with toys and functional items

Awarded as Entrepreneur of the Year in 2013 and one of Finland's strongest companies in 2012, Martinex has been trusted by consumers for almost 30 years. Its extensive line of bakeware includes high-quality pans, moulds and other tools for fun and easy baking. Its textile products, from children's wear, towels and beddings to its newly launched adult line, fulfil OEKO-TEX Standard 100 requirements.

"While we offer beautiful products, safety comes first and design comes second," Sandstrom says. "We invest a lot in testing our products to ensure they are safe."

Martinex is also one of the largest Moomin licensees worldwide. Based on Tove Jansson's beloved story books, Moomin characters are featured in more than 100 Martinex products for preschool children and families. The company likewise distributes the popular African tahti or Star of Africa board game and has launched interactive mobile and role-play editions to complement the 64-year-old game.

"Our success is hinged on well-known and quality products," Sandstrom says. "We put a lot of effort in the designs, prints and patterns, which are completely drawn or modified by our designers."

Exporting its products to 55 countries, the family-owned company is expanding its borders to seize opportunities globally. With the increasing popularity of Moomin and other licensed products in Japan and South Korea, Martinex works with partners and distributors to serve Asia's growing consumer markets.
