TESTEX brings MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX textile label to Asia

TESTEX's Zurich headquarters stands as testament to the company's legacy of Swiss precision since 1846.

Weaving tradition and innovation on the loom of Swiss precision, TESTEX has spun a vibrant legacy of high-quality textile testing and certification spanning almost 170 years. With a long history intertwined with Switzerland's silk industry, the Zurich-based enterprise is a renowned leader in textile testing and certification not just in Europe, but globally.

TESTEX is a member of the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile Ecology (OEKO-TEX).

Last year, there were more than 13,000 OEKO-TEX certificates issued worldwide. Amid the increasing importance of product labelling in Asia, TESTEX this month is launching MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX, a label of excellence in textile safety, sustainability and responsibility.

MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX integrates two coveted certifications - the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and STeP (Sustainable Textile Production). Poised to raise the bar for the textile industry, the label offers companies the ideal tool to communicate to consumers their commitment to sustainability - right on the product itself. Textile and clothing bearing the MADE IN GREEN label are certified as free from harmful substances and are manufactured in safe and environment-friendly facilities.

"The consumer mindset has shifted," says TESTEX CEO Serge Rolle. "People are interested to know whether a product they're buying went through an environmentally and socially sound process."

Optimistic over MADE IN GREEN's larger ecological significance, Rolle also sees tremendous opportunities for export-oriented Asian brands carrying the label. TESTEX is strategically positioned for Asian clients through offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bandung and Manila.

With roots dating back to 1846, TESTEX continues to look towards the next century, bringing innovation across its service range by developing sustainability-focused products and promoting European standards. Indoor air-quality testing, the health-friendly air label, and toy testing with the newly developed label TESTEX Safe Toy are some examples of their ambition.

"Asia is very important to us," says Marc Sidler, head of marketing and sales. "We want to weave Swiss precision with the Asian spirit."
