Reliable sea-air service optimises global supply chains

Robin Knopf, CEO

Cargo turnaround from Dubai is due for a major revamp with Dubai World Central (DWC) shifting to high gear as the main hub for pure cargo operators in the UAE.

SAT Albatros, the world's biggest sea-air carrier via Dubai, has made heavy investments over the past two years in its know-how, people and information technology processes in order to maximise opportunities within DWC. The immediate advantage for its clients is that goods from Asia can reach designated European, African, United States and South American destinations within roughly two weeks through the company's Albatros Sea-Air Service.

"The successful choreography of two transport modes which create a powerful alternative to the ordinary is a growth opportunity without any limits," says Robin Knopf, CEO of SAT Albatros. For more than 30 years, the company has unlocked business opportunities for its global clients by combining sea and air transport. As production shifted to the Far East, its offering of a two-week transit time from South China and Hong Kong to Europe and the US made global sourcing efficient, affordable and environment-friendly. Because of its unrivalled expertise, SAT Albatros has spared countless clients from unpredictable vessel arrivals that otherwise plague global supply chains.

"We offer a highly engineered product with operational efficiency driven to the absolute maximum," Knopf says. "The focus on this product is our strength."

As Asian trade flows evolve, SAT Albatros sees increasing traffic to the US and Africa. Southeast Asian markets, such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar, are also becoming important growth markets in the global trade of fast-moving consumer goods.

"We see the future of SAT Albatros as a carrier for specialised transport products that are based on full dedication and operational excellence," Knopf says. "Our customers like the way we work and we are converting our many ideas into concrete and reliable high-performance products that go beyond sea-air service."
