Typhoon threatens Open start

Derek Fung's hopes of continuing a run of good form could be blown off course by a typhoon which is threatening this week's DFS Galleria Guam Open.

Typhoon Isa is heading towards the US territory and is expected to come within 65 kilometres of Guam just as players are due to tee-off in this Omega Tour event.

Fung is hoping to keep up the kind of form which helped him finish ninth at the Vietnam Open and also to win the final leg of the Hong Kong PGA Order of Merit.

Even if the typhoon intervenes, Fung is sure to enjoy himself as some of the players are already planning for a possible distraction.

South Korea's defending champion Mo Joong-kyung said: 'I know some of the guys are already planning a typhoon party.'
