I REFER to John W. S. Chan's letter headlined, ''Must start talking'' (South China Morning Post, April 1). Of course everyone favours talks between China and Britain, but that does not mean that the British must give in to every demand the Chinese make.
This transition is supposed to be undertaken by way of compromise, but this seems impossible while the Chinese leaders constantly shirk their obligations to talk, fussing like silly little children at every turn.
