THE PROSECUTION'S CASE

March 10, 1992: Yip Kai-foon and five accomplices rob Tse Sui Lun jewellery shop in Tai Po Road, Cheung Sha Wan, escaping with valuables worth $15.7 million.

May 23, 1996: Or Yin-ting tells Cheung Tze-keung and Chan Chi-ho that Victor Li Tzar-kuoi has left his office in the China Building, Pedder Street. Cheung and Chan driving separate vehicles pincer Mr Li's blue Nissan President in Deep Water Bay Road. Mr Li and a Mr Lam, presumably the driver, are shoved into Chu Yik-sing's van, blindfolded, gagged with tape and bound. Cheung demands and receives $1.38 billion from the Li family. Mr Li and Mr Lam are released.

September 29, 1997: At around 6pm, Cheung Tze-keung and Cheung Chi-fung kidnap Walter Kwok Ping-sheung after he leaves Wan Chai's Sun Hung Kai Centre. Mr Kwok is taken to Ma On Kong, Tai Lam and guarded by Ho Chi-cheung.

October 3, 1997: Cheung Tze-keung gets $600 million from the Kwok family and releases Mr Kwok.

October: Cheung allegedly approaches Chin Hon-sau to buy ammunition.

January 8, 1998: Cheung and Lau Ting-won transport the explosives and ammunition to a house in Ma Tso Lung near the border.
