Putting off potential shoppers
I am writing to complain about the hostile environment created by aggressive property touts in public places.
At the moment there are so many agents crowding the IFC Mall at Exchange Square that it is impossible to walk freely or talk without shouting (they all seem to be on their mobile phones at once).
I am lucky that I am not Chinese and therefore do not have to avoid their advances. I am surprised that the retail outlets are willing to put up with them. They clearly must be intimidating potential shoppers. And I am also surprised that the management has not done anything about them as they are clearly causing a potential safety problem as they crowd around the bottom of escalators.
I realise times are tough, but is there really any need for each agency to be represented several times? Why are they all in the same place selling the same development, Le Sommet? When can we expect them to leave, or is this to be a permanent attraction at the IFC Mall? Can we expect car salesmen, travel agents and various others to conduct business in such a way? Finally, if Sun Hung Kai Properties was not the developer of both the IFC Mall and Le Sommet, would this be allowed? AILSA CUTHBERT Happy Valley
