Chan keeps head down over 'love baby' claims

JUST the week before, big brother Jackie Chan was on top form holding court with the press. But last week, Chan was sneaking out the back door trying to avoid reporters trailing after him in Tokyo where he was promoting Who Am I? The reason? News broke last week that former Miss Asia Pacific Elaine Ng Yi-lei was almost seven months pregnant and fingers have pointed at Chan as the father. The star and Ng were believed to have been an item earlier this year, but sources close to the couple confirmed the romance ended about three months ago. Ng has not named the father and Chan has made a statement saying the media can write what they want. The baby girl is expected to arrive on New Year's Day.

Kwok files for damages over video AARON Kwok Fu-shing and his manager, Siu Mei, have kept mum over the 'videotape incident' after his press conference with the local media - even when news that the incriminating footage of Kwok and a Chinese woman in a hotel room in Australia would be circulated in Southeast Asia. Last week, however, they broke their silence to announce they had filed for unspecified damages against the woman and her boyfriend, who were believed to have set up the Canto-pop idol. An earlier injunction by the New South Wales Supreme Court already bars the couple from making and distributing copies of the video to any third party. The injunction also demanded an explanation from the couple, otherwise they would be charged with contempt of court.

Yeung's yo-yo behaviour FORMER beauty queen and Category III star Pauline Yeung Po-lin seems not to be doing well. The actress has been behaving so erratically that the authorities calling on her is turning out to be part of everyday life. Two weeks ago, Yeung reportedly created a commotion at Taipei airport, as she left for Japan. She was refused entry by Japanese immigration because she was carrying too many drugs, which she said were for insomnia. Instead she went to Singapore to 'take a rest'. On her return to Hong Kong, she created a ruckus in her hotel room one night and police sent her to hospital. A day after she was discharged and went home, she ran shouting into the street telling reporters that someone in her apartment wanted to kill her and that she wanted witnesses. This time, she called the police herself. No one knows what is wrong with Yeung: some say it is love problems, others have pointed the finger at drugs.

Did Dou do it? THE showbiz world has certainly been scandal-filled this past week. Faye Wong and ex-husband Dou Wei are in the headlines again because of a book on the mainland. Disappearing Shadow is a tell-all account about their marriage and its subsequent breakdown. The book contained graphic details about how Wong found Dou in bed with present girlfriend Gao Yuen and how Dou and Gao took nude pictures of each other. What has shocked people is that the 'author' has signed as Dou Wei, and the book is written in the first person from Dou's point of view. Although initially some thought that Dou did it out of spite, friends - and even Wong - believed that Dou's signature was forged and whichever unscrupulous party published it only wanted to make money from it.
