The key challenge in our transition to the 21st century has been the emergence of two totally different classes of people, according to Klaus Schwab, founder and president of the World Economic Forum.

 Mr Schwab said the world was now going through an age of electronic and genetic revolution, which would continue into the next century.

 As a result, a 'global hyper-class' would emerge, consisting of people who had easy access to technology and were therefore connected to each other.

 But people who were not aware of technological advances, those from under-developed countries, would be left out and would form a so-called 'lost under-class'.

 To bridge the gap between the two, the global hyper-class must develop a sense of responsible 'globality'.
