PETER SO MAN-FUNG

Peter So Man-fung, 41, has been a fung shui practitioner for 19 years. His clients include the rich and famous such as Canto-pop stars Faye Wong and Jacky Cheung Hok-yau and his correct predictions have earned him fame and constant business.

So's lifestyle counters the image of his traditional profession, however.

'At weekends I go partying for sure. But my weekends are usually very long. They usually start on Wednesday night.

'My routine is like this: Pink Mao Mao [1 Wang Tak Street, Happy Valley. Tel: 2961 3350] is my Wednesday regular. Thursday night I usually go to Club Ing [4/F, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Harbour Road, Wan Chai. Tel: 2836 3690]. Friday and Saturday nights I prefer C Club [Basement, California Tower, 30-32 D'Aguilar Street. Tel: 2526 1139]. If I still have enough energy I will go to Home [2/F, 23 Hollywood Road, Central. Tel: 2545 0023] early on Sunday morning, say 4am.

'The main reason I go out is to drink. I used to drink a lot of whisky, but then I switched to red wine and now white wine and champagne. I've been drinking for more than 20 years. Now I can't drink too much, only three to four glasses maximum.

'I schedule my appointments between 2pm and 9pm. I normally go out at about 12am or 1am, after I have finished my dinner and had a shower. Luckily I can still sleep in the morning if I go out the night before.

'There are two places I usually go for dinner. Tien Heung Lau (Chun Kee Restaurant) [Kiu Fung Mansion, 18 Austin Avenue, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2366 2414] serves good Hangzhou cuisine. You can have hairy crab all year round there.

'Peking Restaurant [Cumberland House, 227 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei. Tel: 2730 1315] gives the best value for money. I always go there with my girlfriend. A meal for two costs only $200. I've been going there for more than 20 years. Shredded chicken is my favourite.

'Saturday night I like going to Dynasty [4/F, New World Renaissance Hotel, 22 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2734 6600]. It is a nice Chinese restaurant and, despite the current economic climate, it's always packed.

'I get up very late on Sunday, around 3pm or 4pm. I used to go boxing but since the gym nearby closed, I haven't done this for nearly two months. I've been boxing since I was a teenager. Now I like going to monitor the decorating being done on the house I've just bought in Ting Kau on Sunday.

'I don't do much shopping in Hong Kong. I go to Japan and Milan two to three times a year to buy clothes. But if I really need to buy clothes I will go to Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. There are many shops there such as I.T [Gateway, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2117 0655] and Versace [Ocean Centre, Tsim Sha Tsui. Tel: 2199 7768] so that I can buy everything in just one day. I like clothes that are either white, black or very colourful.

'But the best way to spend the weekend is to go to Thailand for sunbathing and swimming. I always get air tickets in a rush and my agent Hugo Travel [Room 1213, Bank Centre, 636 Nathan Road, Mongkok. Tel: 2388 2813] is very helpful. I've been getting tickets through it for almost 10 years.'
