after dark, You get the tickets. We've got the plan

Hong Kong has never been so health conscious and that can't be a bad thing. So down those vitamin pills, get out in the open air and start dancing. What could be better for your immune system?

The event: With DJ Kulu's Sunday Ultra Lounge session a thing of the past at Liquid - which, word has it, will only open on Friday and Saturday nights as of this week - the Hong Kong music stalwart has devised another first. The Ultimate Junk promises to be a no-holds-barred party on the sea. DJ Kulu (right) will open his private junk to party fiends and will steer them on a course of pleasure for three hours. His Ultra Lounge (including the Vidal sisters, above) crew will be onboard and music, food and drinks will be provided.

Kulu plans to make the voyage a regular event throughout the summer. If there's enough interest, it could be a bi-monthly breath of fresh air. The party junk will pick up passengers from Queen's Pier at 9pm and 10pm before sailing out on to the harbour and returning at midnight. Tickets are $390, including food, an open bar and two-for-one drinks at Liquid until 1am, available through Cityline, Liquid and Midnight Express.

Plan B: If you miss that boat, head to the outlying islands ferry pier number four and board the love boat to Lamma. Immerse yourself in the island vibe by booking a table at the Lamma Bistro. Situated slap bang in the middle of Yung Shue Wan Main Street, this raised terrace eatery is the place to be seen - and its elevated vantage point is an ideal spot to watch Lamma's finest go by.

Formerly Tooschas, the restaurant has undergone a complete renovation and change of management. In place of dodgy curries and rickety old tables and chairs, the menu is now distinctly Mediterranean and the ambience and decor St Tropez chic.

Hop off the ferry and within 10 minutes you could be sitting in a comfortable wicker chair with a chilled glass of chardonnay or bottle of Stella Artois while watching the sun go down. The waitresses also look the part in black aprons, white shirts and sincere smiles as they guide you through the tapas-style menu.

The set meals are excellent value or you can pick and choose from such delicacies as calamari, sardines, potatoes. All the dishes are accompanied by a fresh selection of bread with olive oil and pesto.

The atmosphere is convivial, the food is delicious and, above all, it won't cost you an arm and a leg.
