I REFER to Mr Ng Hung-chun's letter headlined, ''Not doing enough over refuse'' (South China Morning Post August 4).

  The Tai Pei Square in Tsuen Wan is serviced by our district cleansing staff regularly and environmental hygiene in the area has been satisfactorily maintained. Upon receipt of Mr Ng's complaint, staff of the Regional Services Department had made several visits to the location. Neither accumulation of refuse nor dog faeces could be found.

  In the past three months, nine summonses were taken out in Tai Pei Square against litter offenders. Meanwhile, staff of the department have been instructed to keep a close watch against litter offenders and to remove refuse regularly to upkeep the cleansing condition.
