Practice makes perfect for rescues

One of 40 hikers caught in a 'hill fire' is rescued during an exercise in Tai Lam Country Park yesterday.

More than 300 staff from the Auxiliary Medical Service and the St John Ambulance Brigade were involved in the exercise.

Chief staff officer of the service, Chan Yiu-wing, said the training was held every two years to boost rescue efforts. It also enhanced knowledge of medical treatment in a disaster situation.

Last year, the service rescued 2,072 people in country parks.
