INVESTORS in the Quantum Emerging Growth Fund have seen their money more than double over the last year.

  According to a report by statisticians Micropal, the fund has seen a 103.34 per cent rise over the last year.

  In their Emerging Market Fund Monitor newsletter, Micropal maintains that due to the secretiveness of the fund's managers - New York-based Soros Fund Management - pin-pointing which markets or stocks contributed to the performance is difficult.

  But according to the fund's June quarterly report, the fund's largest equity exposure was in Asia - which exceeded Latin America by a margin of over 2:1.

   HONG Kong's first regional stamp exhibition will be held in February next year, in celebration of the territory's stamp history, which dates back to 1862.

  The exhibition, called ''Hong Kong '94'' is expected to generate a significant amount of interest among stamp collectors. Four hundred frames of exhibits will be displayed.

  Seventy sales booths will be made available for overseas postal administration and local and overseas dealers. Attendance is expected to be 200,000.

   SOTHEBY'S is to hold its first mainland China art exhibition in what Sotheby's Asia chairman heralds as an unprecedented move by an international auctioneer.

  To be held on October 9 and 10, the exhibition will display the works of Xu Beihong, Zhong Daqian, Qi Baishi, and a host of contemporary and modern Chinese painters.

  The exhibits are valued at over $11 million.
