Hotel guests' details going to police in 3 hours
Information on hotel guests in Guangdong will be automatically sent to police within three hours after they check in, the Guangdong government has announced. The new rule takes effect from September 1. Software prepared by public police will be installed on the computer systems of all hotels in the province and the information recorded for guests, such as identity card numbers and date of birth, sent to police. All hotels must install the software, which is free of charge. Those who fail to use it will have their operating licences revoked, and if hotels fail to install it by next month, they may be fined between 5,000 and 10,000 yuan.
